Introduction to Portrait Painting

This workshop will focus on the basic principles used in painting a portrait. The first day students will work from a cast, and the second day they will work from a model. Students will develop their portrait from an open grisaille to a closed grisaille, exploring the underlying abstract value pattern of the subject. In completing the portrait in color, color temperature and color value will be addressed. Instructor will demonstrate each morning to introduce the next stage, and students will work with one-on-one instruction each afternoon.
